Did Connecticut ban conversion therapy?

Medical malpractice comes in many forms, but one thing that you may not have thought about is how changing laws can impact malpractice cases. For example, in the past, anti-gay therapy was used to try to convert those with homosexual tendencies to heterosexuality. This was a horrible treatment that left many people suicidal and at risk of injuring themselves.

Today, it's been recognized that this therapy is not therapy at all and is damaging to people in Connecticut. That's why there has been a unanimous passage of a ban that prohibits conversion therapy in the state.

It state senate passed the ban immediately and it was signed into law quickly by the state governor. The governor stated that the ban is backed by science. He stated it is supported by those willing to accept changes in culture and acceptance in the state, an important part of the state's goals. The senate suspended their normal procedures in order to deliver the bill to the governor's desk immediately for approval.

The governor previously backed the passage of transgender rights law in Connecticut and was a firm supporter of gay marriage in the United States. This bill is founded on the American Medical Association and American Psychiatric Association's determination that conversion therapy on minors can be harmful and that homosexuality should not be treated as a disease.

If you've been put through conversion therapy or have faced similar treatments, it may be considered medical malpractice in Connecticut. Your attorney can review your information and help you decide if you'd like to pursue a lawsuit.
