1 killed in 2-vehicle accident in Connecticut

When you take your car out for a spin, the last thing you imagine is that you're going to be involved in a car accident. If you or a loved one is hurt or you lose a loved one in the accident, the situation can seem overwhelming. It's important to know that the person who was negligent can be held at fault so you can seek compensation for the injuries and losses you've suffered.

Truck crashes can be particularly dangerous due to the weight of the vehicle, and this news report shows just how quickly an accident can turn fatal. According to the story from May 14, a 69-year-old woman was killed when a dump truck hit the driver's side of her vehicle while passing through a local intersection. She was on Old Waterbury Road traveling west when the dump truck collided with her while heading north on Main Street North. It's not clear if the driver of the dump truck was speeding or under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

When first responders made it to the scene, the woman was not responding to their attempts to revive her. They attempted to provide emergency care at the scene before transferring her for further medical help. She was taken to the local Waterbury Hospital, but she was pronounced dead.

The operator of the truck, a 29-year-old man, was uninjured in the collision. It's not clear at this time why he collided with her vehicle. The police are still investigating, and charges could be placed at a later date.
