4 People Hurt in Serious Collision in North Haven

A car accident impacts more than just a single dangerous driver. He or she could impact one or more other vehicles, causing major injuries and damage to the others’ vehicles. Whenever accidents involve more than one vehicle, the risk of injury or death increases, and that’s a risk that no one should take.

In this case, a single error led to several injuries. Four people were taken to the hospital following a serious collision at an intersection in North Haven. According to the news from Dec. 2, the crash took place on Dixwell Avenue close to the Route 40 interchange. The crash resulted in a pileup that closed the interchange for several hours.

The story states that the crash happened in the early morning, around 5:55 a.m., likely when people were heading to school or work. It was then that the fire department was called to the scene where four vehicles had struck one another. The fire chief said that the investigation, still in preliminary stages, showed that a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe had struck a 2005 Toyota Rav 4. The two vehicles hit so hard that they were thrown into two others that had been stopped at the intersection.

In total, four people were injured in the collision and were taken to the hospital. They included a 30-year-old man who was driving a Honda, a 40-year-old woman in the Toyota, and a 43-year-old man and 38-year-old woman both from the Hyundai. The 38-year-old woman and 43-year-old man were in serious condition when help arrived. Both people had been thrown at the time of the collision, so it’s not clear who had been driving at the time of the accident. A fifth person, the driver of a Chevrolet, declined to receive treatment.
