Woman Dies in Hit-And-Run Crash, Police Seize Vehicle

If you were ever hit by a vehicle, you'd hope that the person who struck you would stop and assist you in getting medical care. At the very least, you'd want someone to acknowledge that you were hurt, even if they didn't believe the crash was their fault.

Sometimes, people flee the scene of serious accidents, but this is a horrible thing to do. It can leave a person without care for a period of time that could be vital to them surviving the incident.

Take, for example, a case out of Connecticut. A woman's life was lost and a fatal hit-and-run recorded when she was struck by a vehicle that continued on after the collision. The Sept. 5 report describes a situation in which a 47-year-old woman died near the area of Garden Street and Albany Avenue. It was around 10:47 p.m., when ambulances arrived on the scene to take her to the nearby hospital. She had life-threatening injuries.

At the time of the crash, the woman was marked in critical condition. Initially, reports stated that she'd passed away at the scene, but it wasn't until the following morning that she lost her life. Detectives on the scene began a search to find the vehicle, allegedly a 2008 to 2012 Chevrolet Malibu or similar vehicle.

On the morning of the woman's death, detectives reported seizing the vehicle. It's not yet clear if they have the suspect in custody, but they now have a strong indication of who used the vehicle. They did not report that it had been stolen.

When someone loses their life in a crash, the family members have a right to hold them liable. In a hit-and-run case, it could be some time before identifying the driver is possible. An attorney can tell you how long you have to file a wrongful death case under these circumstances.
